PART 1396828973544Caring for Carers Inc. employs a Service Co-ordinator (Christchurch Office) Social Worker (Christchurch Office) and a Field Worker (Timaru Office) to provide support to the Carers.

If Carers are feeling stressed by their caring role they are encouraged to telephone the office for support.  A Home Visit or Office Visit may be organised with the Carer by the Social Worker or the Field Worker if there is a need.

Caring for Carers has a large amount of information regarding other organisations in the form of pamphlets.  Caring for Carers also has a Resource Library which is free to loan books for Carer members.  There are books available for loan regarding Bipolar, Schizophrenia, Dementia, Extreme Parenting, Death and Dying, Relaxation (with DVD), Cancer and Stroke.

There are Monthly Support Group Meetings held in Christchurch, Rangiora, Ashburton and Timaru.  The Support Group Meetings are facilitated by the Social Worker / Field Worker.

All Caring for Carers members are sent a monthly newsletter.  The newsletter has information beneficial to Carers and some uplifting poems and stories.  The details of the Support Group Meetings are advertised in the newsletter.  There are also other organisations Carer Education featured in the newsletter.

The Social Worker and the Field Worker can provide Advocacy for the Carer if there is a need for the support.

Caring for Carers holds a maximum of four Carer Outings (Carers Day Outs) a year.  The outings are beneficial to the Carers health as it gives them a break for the day without the person they care for.  The past outings have been to Longbeach Estate, Toby Hill Farm, Akaroa, Hanmer Springs and Oxford.  Carers often comment that they feel refreshed and revived after an outing.  The photo shows Carer Members enjoying an outing to Lyttleton.

If you are interested in becoming a member of Caring for Carers please contact the office and we will send you an Information Pack.  We look forward to hearing from you!
